A set of four spalted maple drinking cups. These were cut from a log on the property that was felled in 2023. These feature some interesting spalting patterns and are a bit wormy. Finished with mineral oil and beeswax.
A friend who happens to be a woodworker with lots of scrap pieces put together this bowl blank. The rim and foot are cherry. The center is two perpendicular slabs of maple. 8.25″ W x 4.5″ H. Beeswax and mineral oil finish.
This is the Red Maple Tree that figures prominently at the Exchange. It stands alone and had found its own asymmetrical balance through the years. It is approximately 90 years old. It remains fairly easy to climb as the branches spiral around the trunk up to the crown.
Woodland creatures are fashioned out of natural materials and held together by good old Elmer’s glue. Epoxy is sometimes used to secure structural attachment points. A detailed list of species and plant parts is included with every creation.
